  1.      Draft of File Policy for DoorNet
  2.      Final adoption of this policy will be included in DoorNet Statement of Policy

  4.      3.  DoorNet File Network (DFN)
  5.  
  6.      In order to further promote the distribution of new doors and updates in
  7.      a timely manner the DoorNet File Network (DFN) is announced. This is a
  8.      joint  project  between  DoorNet  File  Network  (DFN) and ToyShop file
  9.      Distribution Network (TDS). The purpose of DFN is to collect new Door
  10.      and Door Utility Releases direct from the author or their designated
  11.      representative and to turn them around in a reasonable time and have
  12.      them distributed.  Programs submitted must not be crippled (ie. need key
  13.      or use date expiration) unless a key is provided with it and updates on
  14.      a timely basis.  (Some thought is currently be given to having an echo
  15.      for crippled software).  One update of a software package is permitted
  16.      each month unless it is a major upgrade or major bug fix (determination
  17.      to be made by the IFC).

  19.      Submissions may be made to the PC Toyshop in Eugene Oregon via a special
  20.      toll-free  number 1-800-###-#### (Please note that this number is for
  21.      uploads by Authors or their representatives only). Submissions  may
  22.      also be made by calling 1-503-686-5055 (DoorNet Address : 75:75/3) 
  23.      (this is not a toll-free call).  Submissions may also be  made by mail
  24.      to :  Adrian  Ng , P .O .Box 3092, Eugene, OR 97403.
  25.      Submissions may also be submitted to the ZC by calling 1-407-383-9820
  26.      (DoorNet Address : 75:75/0 or Fidonet Address : 1:374/6).  With prior 
  27.      approval submissions may be made at various regional sites in DoorNet.

  29.      All Authors or representatives must complete the Authors registration
  30.      form (see attached form). This form is also available on PC ToyShop
  31.      (503-686-5055) under script questionnaire #9 if they wish to use the
  32.      toll-free 1-800-###-#### numbers. The purpose is to keep an updated
  33.      list of Authors or representatives using the toll-free service.

  35.      All submissions should include a DFN File Submission Form (See attached
  36.      Form).  This Form supplies appropriate information for the correct
  37.      classification of the program and information to be published in the
  38.      D_Files Echo as well as information for the DoorNet Master List of Doors.

  40.      Submissions will be tested for file integrity and for viruses.  Once the
  41.      files are verified they will enter the pipeline for distribution.
  42.      Information from the submission form will ensure proper classification of
  43.      the programs and will be used for the TIC description.  Efforts are
  44.      currently underway to develop (or obtain) some additional security
  45.      features for the file packages.

  47.      Submissions will be processed and in the pipeline within 48 hours from
  48.      the initial receipt of the files.  Each region will have at least 1 Star
  49.      Distribution point, these Star sites will obtain the newly released Doors
  50.      and Utilities directly from the File Distribution Headquarters.  Regional
  51.      Distribution Sites will carry the entire collection of Doors (Regional
  52.      Distribution Sites may or may not be the same as the Regional Echo
  53.      Sites).  Further Distribution Policy within each region will be
  54.      coordinated by the RFC (Regional File Coordinator) and the RC (Regional
  55.      Coordinator) with the cooperation of the various Net Coordinators. A
  56.      monthly links list or distribution report indicating current feeds will
  57.      be submitted to the uplinks so a record may be obtained of the scope of
  58.      distribution.  All Distribution Sites whether a Star, Hub or Node MUST be
  59.      a member of DoorNet.  Questions relating to the file network should be
  60.      addressed to the IFC (International File Coordinator) Adrian Ng or
  61.      the IC (International Coordinator) Alex Rose.
